Documenting Hope and the New Paradigm of Children’s Health

With chronic childhood illnesses on the rise, a pioneering nonprofit is looking past symptoms to target environmental stressors—proving that healing is not just possible, but preventable.

Something is happening to an entire generation of children. More than half of U.S. children are now diagnosed with at least one chronic health condition, and rates of ADHD, autism, anxiety, autoimmune disease and developmental challenges have climbed dramatically over the past three decades. Too many families are told these conditions are genetic, lifelong and manageable only with medication. Documenting Hope is here to offer a different answer.

Founded by Beth Lambert, an author, researcher and mother, Documenting Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that drives discovery research and provides resources and support for parents and practitioners working to help children heal. The organization is uniquely focused on root causes and the concept of “total load,” a framework that recognizes how the cumulative and compounding effects of innumerable health stressors in the modern industrial world are contributing to the chronic disease epidemic in children today.

While conventional medicine has been slow to ask why so many children are struggling, Documenting Hope is building a bridge between mainstream medicine and root-cause health care. Through its landmark CHIRP and FLIGHT research studies, the organization is rigorously tracking children with chronic conditions and documenting what helps them heal. According to Documenting Hope’s research and findings, many conditions may be preventable and, in some cases, reversible, and the body has an extraordinary capacity to return to health when underlying environmental, nutritional and immune-system factors are properly addressed.

Documenting Hope offers families a path forward through step-by-step healing strategies, practitioner referrals, educational resources, and a growing community of researchers, clinicians and families working toward better outcomes for children.
