The exclusive pairing dinner hosted by Casa Dragones in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, featured a four-course menu paired with the expressions of the tequila house, along with two cocktails designed by renowned mixologist Fabiola Padilla from Bekeb.
The Day of the Dead brings with it flavors, colors and rituals rooted in one of the most distinctive traits of Mexican culture: a bridge between those who are still here and the beyond, and those who inhabit it. For this reason, it is a special date for Tequila Casa Dragones, which serves as the setting for its traditional Day of the Dead dinner.
To welcome guests, Casa Dragones offered two Casa Dragones Blanco cocktails—Milk Punch Dragones and Purple Rain—crafted by the famous mixologist Fabiola Padilla from Bekeb bar in San Miguel de Allende, which this year ranked No. 27 on the North America’s 50 Best Bars list.
The pairing dinner—which took place on Nov. 1, was open to the public through advance ticket sales, which sold out in record time. On Nov. 2, the tequila house hosted a similar closed-door dinner. The menu for both nights was crafted by the renowned chef Lula Martín del Campo—of Cascabel, Marea and La Barra de al Lado in Mexico City, who was recently named Chef of the Year by the Guía México Gastronómico—with a long-standing commitment to Mexican gastronomy.
To start, guests enjoyed a flexitarian menu inspired by local ingredients: avocado toast with quelites and chapulines, accompanied by a faux oyster made from pickled mushrooms; later, guests savored a soup made from ancestral corn paired with Casa Dragones Joven, which led to a dish of autumn squash and short rib with a glaze of three chilies paired with Casa Dragones Añejo Barrel Blend, and ended with a chocolate and pistachio dessert paired with Casa Dragones Reposado Mizunara. This menu concluded with textures of chocolate and pistachio.
La Casa Dragones is also a fundamental part of the experience: Located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, it is designed to showcase unique pieces of mid-20th century Bajío design, as well as more contemporary currents from the country. For this occasion, the altar created by Daniel Valero from Mestiz will be recreated. Valero designed the “Los Dos Soles” altar in 2023 for Tequila Casa Dragones, both in New York at Rockefeller Center and in San Miguel at Casa Dragones. casadragones.com
