On Thursday, October 8, cycling, wellness and community came together at Bohemian Bier Spa in historic downtown Glenwood Springs for Ride, Relax, Recharge, a special Best Buddies Bike Ride with Valley Velo Club.
Led by Leanda Cave, a four-time world champion triathlete and Best Buddies International’s director of cycling and hiking, the one-hour ride followed the Colorado River through fall colors before returning to the spa for refreshments and recovery.
The event also featured Brooks Bryant, director of mission advancement at Best Buddies International, who delivered a moving speech about his involvement with the organization and its mission to create opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Featured in Purist’s Summer 2026 issue, Bohemian Bier Spa occupies a beautifully renovated 140-year-old building, bringing the centuries-old Czech tradition of beer bathing to the Roaring Fork Valley. Its eight private therapy rooms feature handmade European oak tubs filled with hops, barley and brewer’s yeast, along with rainfall showers and infrared saunas with chromotherapy.
After the ride, guests enjoyed beer from Eagle River Brewing Company, wine, prosecco and charcuterie while exploring this distinctive wellness destination.
Fifteen percent of proceeds benefited Best Buddies International. Cave continues to support the organization’s mission through cycling and hiking events nationwide, while the Roaring Fork Valley community remains actively involved in its work.
With its blend of outdoor adventure, restorative therapies and community spirit, Bohemian Bier Spa is poised to become a winter favorite in the Roaring Fork Valley.
