Amrit—elixir of life in Sanskrit—on Singer Island in South Florida is just a dozen miles from The Palm Beaches. The Ocean front resort is predicated on rest and relaxation, sea air and salt water and good coastal fare and fun. But it’s the Amrit Wellness & Spa longevity state-of-the-art center that sets it apart from any other Floridian resort.
The restaurant on property, Tula or “balance,” is a global dining experience—indoor or outdoors—with a panoramic Atlantic Ocean vista. The property includes 155 guest rooms and private residences paired with fitness and mindfulness centers including restorative yoga classes and meditation.
Aayush Hydrothermal Experience is Amrit Ocean Resort’s 17,000-square-foot, indoor-outdoor hydrotherapy circuit located within Amrit Wellness & Spa, the resort’s four story, 103,000-square-foot wellness and spa center. The revolutionary facility includes both coed and gender-specific areas and is the only one of its kind in Florida. Developed in partnership with global experts in wellness modalities, the Aayush (pronounced ah-yoosh) offers unrivaled rituals in heat therapy, cryotherapy, halotherapy and hydrotherapy. The guided experience features a sequence of hot and cold replenishment pools, a hydro-reflexology path, an arctic chill fountain with effusion showers, a salt inhalation chamber, sauna and steam rooms, and a private spa lap pool. Named after the Sanskrit word ayush, meaning “life” or “longevity,” the Aayush is designed to energize, relax, detox and improve circulation while releasing the body’s feel-good hormones.
The Amrit Wellness & Spa sanctuary meshes other eastern and western healing modalities like health assessments, infusion therapies, Hammam Rituals and body treatments all “rooted in ancient, proven techniques designed to nurture the mind, body and spirit,” says Akram Alkawasmeh, executive director of wellness and spa at Amrit.
One of our favorite Purist-recommended hyper-wellness experiences is the 20-minute PEMF, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, also known as low magnetic stimulation, which utilizes electromagnetic fields to promote overall wellness and enhance mood. PEMF works by detoxifying cells by waking them up and increasing cell voltage for improved cellular function.
Next up is the 50-minute hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a treatment that involves breathing concentrated oxygen within a pressurized chamber to enhance the body’s natural healing abilities. Some benefits include improved blood flow and the promotion of relaxation and recovery.
For a skin-deep therapy, we love the 20-minute red light therapy bed which exposes the body to targeted light wavelengths that promote the healing of wounds, tendons, muscles, nerves and bones, while also reducing inflammation and pain. It also enhances strength, boosts energy, accelerates recovery and reduces fatigue.
If you don’t make it into the warm ocean steps from your room, the 20-minute dry floatation therapy is a dry float therapy system that involves the body floating over 400 liters of body temperature water without the need to get undressed or wet. This therapy provides a pure, weightless environment that allows you to drift into a meditative state with calming colors or gentle music. Benefits include stress reduction, increased blood circulation, pain management and improved sleep.
More restorative treatments we love include the 50-minute Shirodhara, a stream of warm herbal infused oil that is continuously poured over the forehead to quiet the mind. It is deeply calming to the entire nervous system and eases stress and tension around the head and neck.
