This retrograde comes just at the time when many of us are busy buying holiday gifts, which is unfortunate because things purchased on a retrograde are often defective or they need to go back. It’s smarter to stock up on gift cards this year if you can and if you’re ordering things online, do it in plenty of time for the retrograde to mess with the deliveries. In short, order extra early and save the sales slip.
OCTOBER
Full Moon – October 5 at 2:41pm
This is the infamous Blood Moon bringing energy and ambition, but at times, aggressiveness. It’s in Aries ruled by Mars, the War god, but he is also the god of dynamic vitality and ambition. Use its power to clear the air, finalize projects and remember to try to be physically active. Unused adrenaline can feel like anxiety! And if you’re disgruntled about something, think twice before you start an argument. You may open the door to more than you bargained for under this fiery moon.
New Moon – October 19 at 3:13pm
Ruled by Venus, this is the Lovers Moon, which brings a new sense of romance to you and your loved ones. Its vibration is one that creates balance to situations and events. It’s lovely and harmonious. From 3:13pm and on into the evening, plan to let Venus/Aphrodite permeate your surroundings and being. Represent the goddess as she should be represented—alluring, ready to receive, artful and surrounded by beauty.
SEPTEMBER
Full Moon – September 6 in Pisces
See a beautiful mystical moon in Pisces, the poet, the visionary, and the dreamy thinker. It urges people to escape reality—hopefully by meditating, watching film marathons or even listening to music. In a negative context, it will make you cry and want to imbibe anything that is mind-altering. Either way, your soul wants to emerge and be recognized. It also wants to commune with others, soul-to-soul. See it the nights of the 5th and 6th, and think about where in your life you might have been too idealistic. Try writing and channeling in spirit guides to solve this question. Ask, “What should I know in order to stay on the path that my own soul has set for me?” And watch it on the ocean. A water sign moon on the water is a sight to behold!
New Moon – September 20 in Virgo
Wake up on the 20th and feel the new moon in Virgo, ready to take on the world. How you feel and act today will set the tone for the next 2 weeks. Virgo favors organization, so it helps you be brilliant at putting things in order. Health and nutrition are also Virgo-ruled, so begin paying attention to what your body needs. And Virgo rules the mind—focus on thinking, writing, communicating and reading, especially ‘how to’ books to teach yourself something new. If you’re a Virgo, decide not to give anyone advice unless they ask for it. (And they should definitely ask for your advice!)
AUGUST
Full moon – August 7, at 2:11pm
The moon’s phases affect women more than men. When it’s full, it increases your powers, brings vision and opens your psychic abilities. This month, the Red Moon will make a spectacular show when it rises around 8:05pm the night of the 6th and 7th. It will be large and fiery magenta in color! These two nights favor entertaining, stringing lights and making opalescent, moonstone-colored drinks. Or contemplating your needs such as the need to be independent v.s. the necessity to be in a relationship. This Leo-Aquarius moon can bring enlightenment on how to blend those two opposing feelings and come to a perfect balance.
New Moon – August 21, at 2:31pm
These dark nights—the end of one moon and the beginning of another—are when the psyche prefers to be unseen. This Leo new moon is the time to consider your path for the next two weeks. Ideas or projects begun now will have the waxing moon’s help in becoming a reality. Write your thoughts on parchment, light a candle and have a mindset of intent. The seeds you plant now will grow for two weeks. Eat doughnuts on the new moon and you’ll eat them for the next two weeks! Feel your self-esteem instead and you will achieve your goals.
JULY
July 9 – Full Moon in Capricorn, exact 12:07am.
But see it rise in full glory at 8:02pm the night before! It’s the hot summer moon—large and very red, salmon, orange and pink. Wiccans called it the Mead Moon and Native Americans, the Buck Moon. Full moons intensify whatever emotions we are feeling, so be sure not to let negative feelings rule that day. Feel instead that you are in the moment, completely satisfied, and ready to be a moon gazer.
July 23 – New Moon in Leo, exact 5:46am
The time for smugglers and pirates! It’s a very dark night, but wait a day or two and you will see the slimmest of crescents. When you wake, be ready to start new disciplines. The growing moon will help you carry them through. So start that diet, practice being true to yourself and you might even get the deck painted! Leo’s, you will shine during this moon phase. As for others, it will bring you a new confidence paired with new opportunities.
