We’ve all felt it: that transition as the world begins to bloom, yet our skin remains stuck in post-winter mode. After months of skin-stripping central heating and biting winds, your complexion can feel as dull as the lingering frost, even as the days grow longer. As we swap heavy coats for lighter layers, our skin barrier isn’t just ready for a change—it’s asking for a seasonal reset.
Enter Dr. Ellen Marmur. A world-renowned, board-certified dermatologic surgeon, clinical professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and founder of Marmur Medical and MMSkincare, she is one of the most trusted voices in skin health and longevity. Rather than offering yet another topical to layer onto fatigued skin, Marmur set out to bring true in-office light science into the home—with clinical rigor, elegant design and real results.
The result is the MMSphere Luxe and its travel-ready counterpart, the MMSphere2GO—an award-winning system designed for modern life, from Manhattan to the Hamptons. At its center is the MMSphere, the elite LED device: the only dermatologic surgeon-invented, FDA-cleared, patented home LED medical device of its kind.
This is not a typical beauty gadget. Sculptural and unmistakably luxurious, the MMSphere is designed to echo the iconic curves of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan, transforming cutting-edge skin care into a statement piece. While many devices rely on a single red wavelength, the MMSphere delivers precision-controlled light therapy with multiple intensities and clinically engineered settings. Red light is optimized at a single therapeutic wavelength—without infrared—and offered in three intensity levels to personalize treatment. The system is FDA-cleared for wrinkles, fine lines and breakouts, bringing true medical-grade performance into a seamless daily ritual.
Each device delivers holistic, clinically driven benefits through five targeted wavelengths—amber, blue, green, red and purple—working synergistically to support skin clarity, tone, collagen production and overall skin health. Discover the full spectrum of benefits here.
Designed as a hands-free, contact-free “halo,” the MMSphere treats the face, neck and chest simultaneously, effortlessly integrating into morning routines, evening wind-downs, or even a quiet moment between tennis and lunch.
For spring and summer, Marmur emphasizes a rhythmic, skin-synced approach: green light in the morning to visibly brighten, even tone, and target signs of sun damage, and red light at night to support collagen, smooth wrinkles, and restore skin after daily environmental stress.
Unlike mask-style devices, the MMSphere’s elevated, halo architecture enhances both safety and experience—positioning light away from the eyes while delivering consistent, full-coverage treatment. The result is not just better compliance, but better skin.
What truly sets the system apart is not only the device, but the intelligence of the entire regimen. MMSkincare’s proprietary serums are meticulously formulated with high-performance actives—potent antioxidants, advanced peptides, adaptogenic botanicals, deeply hydrating moisturizers, anti-inflammatory agents and microbiome-supporting ingredients—designed to work in harmony with light therapy for amplified results.
Small-batch-crafted in South Korea, these formulations deliver an exceptionally silky texture with meaningful, lasting hydration. They are as thoughtful as they are effective—clean, elegant and environmentally conscious, without compromising scientific integrity. Explore the full collection at mmskincare.com.
Paired with subtle aromatherapy and integrated sound therapy, the experience becomes more than skin care; it’s a ritual. One that people return to daily, not out of obligation, but because it feels as good as it performs. And that consistency is where transformation happens: results that build, strengthen, and reveal themselves over time.
Patients who use the MMSphere consistently see skin that is smoother, clearer and more luminous. A young acne patient, previously frustrated by harsh treatments, found her breakouts calm and her skin rebalance with regular use. A 36-year-old mother with melasma saw gradual softening of pigmentation and a more even, confident complexion without adding complexity to her routine.
This is the new standard of skin care: not reactive, but regenerative. Not occasional, but consistent.
For the Hamptons season and beyond, Marmur’s advice is simple: Start now. Invest in the MMSphere and its corresponding serums as a year-round system. Use green light each morning to defend against visible sun damage and maintain clarity. Use red light each night to repair, renew and smooth.
Because great skin isn’t seasonal—it’s cumulative.

Tell us why you developed the MMSphere products—what need did you see in your clients, and what was lacking in the market?
Dr. Ellen Marmur: As a dermatologist, I’ve used intensive light therapy in my practice for years and saw firsthand how effective it can be for wrinkles, scars, sun damage, acne, inflammation, wound healing and overall skin health. Without question, light therapy works, but my patients didn’t have access to an effective LED device to continue those benefits at home.
Many devices on the market were awkward, overly simplistic, trend-driven or lacking meaningful clinical validation. Others required people to lie still, hold a wand or commit to routines that weren’t sustainable long-term. Even more were unsafe or not officially medical devices, but home appliances. A greater number were either unsafe or not classified as official medical devices, but rather as home appliances. I saw a gap between what we know works medically and what consumers had access to. I wanted to create a medical-grade device with real clinical results that fit seamlessly into everyday life—something hands-free, contact-free, and powerful enough to treat the face, neck and chest at the same time, without asking people to stop what they’re doing to use it.
The MMSphere2GO is a first-to-market, FDA-cleared LED medical device that brings dermatologist-grade skin care and wellness light therapy—traditionally only available in doctors’ offices—directly to consumers. It’s part of a patented system I designed to support skin health, longevity and overall wellness with maximum results and minimal effort. Unlike LED masks, handheld wands or trendy gadgets, the MMSphere2GO is hands-free and contact-free, allowing users to treat their skin while relaxing, working, exercising or multitasking.
Clinically tested and engineered with nine light therapy settings, the MMSphere2GO targets inflammation, uneven tone and signs of aging, while also addressing wellness needs like stress and focus. It is the only female M.D.–designed LED device of its kind and the only one validated through pioneering research at The Rockefeller University Hospital Center for Clinical and Translational Science, using pharmaceutical-grade RNA sequencing from the Weill Cornell Medicine Genomics Resources Core Facility. That level of rigor was essential to me, because consumers deserve the same scientific standards I hold in my medical practice.
How does it compare to the LED masks you see all over Instagram? Are the red-light settings similar?
Dr. Marmur: Many of the LED masks you see on social media rely on a single red-light setting, often delivered at limited wavelengths and intensities. While red light can be helpful, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution, and it doesn’t address the full range of skin concerns we see clinically.
The MMSphere2GO and LUXE offer three different red settings with pulsed light and multiple intensities, allowing treatments to be customized based on specific needs, whether that’s stimulating collagen, calming inflammation, supporting circulation or improving overall skin texture.
Design also matters. The MMSphere is hands-free and contact-free, which improves hygiene, consistency and ease of use. I’m also cautious about mask-style devices that sit directly on the skin and close to the eyes. Because wearable LED masks place light sources directly over the eyes, repeated exposure raises legitimate ocular safety concerns—a risk underscored by Neutrogena’s voluntary recall of its Light Therapy Acne Mask following patient complaints of visual disturbances and FDA warnings about potential retinal injury. By contrast, Sphere-style devices position LEDs away from the orbital area; in our design, an anti-glare lens provides an additional layer of eye protection, and clinical studies with this architecture demonstrated statistically significant skin benefits with zero reported ocular complaints.
As a dermatologist, I always encourage consumers to look beyond price and popularity. If a device is very inexpensive, lacks FDA clearance or isn’t supported by clinical studies, I would be wary. Devices that are FDA-cleared and clinically tested give me much more confidence, because those standards exist to protect both safety and results.
Do you use it yourself? What’s your favorite setting, and does that change based on the season or time of year?
Dr. Marmur: I use it myself, and my favorite setting depends on what my skin needs at any given time. During busier or more stressful periods, I tend to gravitate toward red light because it helps calm inflammation, support cellular recovery and promote overall skin resilience. Red light has also been shown to support relaxation and the release of feel-good neurotransmitters like dopamine, which can positively impact sleep quality—something I always try to prioritize.
I’m also a strong believer in green light, which is an area where MMSkincare has truly led the industry. We are one of the global leaders in green-light research, with a recent clinical study conducted in collaboration with The Rockefeller University using advanced RNA sequencing that demonstrated meaningful molecular changes, including reduced inflammatory pathways and increased wound-healing signals, which help explain the clinical results we observed, including an average four-year reduction in skin age after just six weeks of using the MMSphere2GO green light for 20 minutes a day.
Green light is especially effective for brightening dull skin, reducing sun damage, healing broken capillaries and addressing hyperpigmentation, so I often lean on it during times of increased sun exposure or when my skin tone feels uneven. Because the MMSphere offers multiple light settings, I can easily adjust my routine seasonally, focusing more on repair and inflammation control in the winter, and tone correction and recovery during warmer months. Skin isn’t static, and your treatments shouldn’t be, either.
What are the most compelling results you’ve seen in clients who use the MMSphere consistently?
Dr. Marmur: The most compelling results are the long-term ones. I have patients who have used the MMSphere consistently for years, and their feedback is remarkably similar. Results add up over time when people actually stick with it.
Compliance is better with the MMSphere because of the experience. The aromatherapy in the serums, the sound therapy with the chimes, and the light therapy for specific concerns like acne, fine lines and sun damage make people want to use it. Their skin looks healthier, smoother and genuinely revived. People love the system as a whole—the device with the serums, how easy it is to use and how naturally it fits into real life.
College students love it because it’s portable. Busy adults love it because it smooths wrinkles without effort. My elderly patients love it because they say it helps calm rashes and reduce precancers on their face and hands. What stands out to me most is adoption. They keep using it. They gift it to friends. They tell me their partners start using it, too. When people love a device and trust the results, it becomes part of their routine and their skin reflects that.
Is this something you recommend people take on winter or spring vacations?
Dr. Marmur: Absolutely. The MMSphere2GO is portable and easy to use on the go, which makes it ideal for travel. Even a few minutes a day can help support circulation, maintain skin vitality and help with your circadian rhythm when your sleep schedule is disrupted. The one product you must also bring is the Revive Serum—it is aloe-based and deeply nourishes the skin, leaving you glowing and refreshed.
For those unable to travel somewhere sunny and warm, is it useful for seasonal affective disorder (SAD)?
Dr. Marmur: Yes. Amber and yellow light are actually the most widely used LED wavelengths globally for seasonal affective support. Our amber setting creates endorphins in the skin cells to help strengthen the microbiome, and increased endorphin production also helps to boost mood during those dark, dreary months. mmskincare.com
