Cookies for Kids’ Cancer founder Gretchen Witt has been hosting bake sales for the past 9 years in Amagansett. Founded in 2008, the organization has granted $12.5 million to childhood cancer research and has funded 91 research grants, resulting in 36 new treatments in clinical trial and available to children today. Now, on the 10th anniversary, Witt is expanding to four East End towns including Bridgehampton, Amagansett, Shelter Island and Sag Harbor. The events will kick off September’s National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Milk Bar founder/CEO and two-time James Beard Award winner, Christina Tosi serves on the Board of Directors for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer and is collaborating with Witt for a final sweet event at EMP Summer House (9/3), where 100% of profits will support childhood cancer research. This event is free (as are the others) and open to the public, welcoming families with various kid-friendly activities: bubble artists, balloon twisting, face painting and more. Tosi will also be providing some of her most popular desserts like compost cookies®, Crack Pie® (whole or by the slice), b’day Cake Truffles, as well as gluten-free cookies from their LIFE line.
