From the moment visitors walk through the door at 1 Hotel South Beach, it’s clear this is a place that lives and breathes wellness. The first thing that greets guests is a Zen-like hanging garden of artfully curated florals and greenery, courtesy of Plant The Future flower shop right in the lobby. From the soothing design choices (natural elements like raw woods abound—the room keys even come in five different types of reclaimed wood) to the organic cotton sheets and hemp-blend mattresses to the farm stand-fresh culinary options, 1 Hotel has been the top spot for a well and balanced stay in bustling South Beach since opening in March 2015. “I wanted to capture the beauty of nature in a hotel and commit to safeguarding it as best I can, a responsibility that I believe we all share. It’s one world,” notes 1 Hotels CEO and Chairman Barry Sternlicht.
A new wealth of top-of-the-line organic offerings furthers that mission. The famed English spa Bamford Haybarn opened its first U.S. outpost here in June, bringing 12 treatment rooms to a 4,500-square-foot expanse on the hotel’s second floor, offering holistic treatments and a perfect reviver for any guests who’ve spent too much time laying out at the spectacular rooftop pool: a body wrap with Bamford Haybarn’s organic emollients like rose chamomile and lemon body crème to help assuage the effects of over-sunning. And for a different sort of replenishing, after a class at the onsite SoulCycle or a private training session at the first-ever Spartan Gym, take a seat at celebrated vegan chef Matthew Kenney’s Planthouse, which opened in March. His plant-based delicacies—like the Bahn Mi wrap loaded with ginger-roasted eggplant and lentil pate or the Zucchini Noodle Bowl with pistachio pesto and cashew ricotta—are a revelation.
You could happily spend your entire stay on the premises, but if you do want to venture out, ride in eco-friendly style with a Tesla house car that’s waiting curbside, ready to spirit you away. May we suggest a trip north to Kenney’s other Miami outpost, Plant Food and Wine? 1hotels.com/south-beach
